Role

The role of Interim Managers in AI transformation

Integrating Artificial Intelligence requires a combination of human experience, leadership and strategic vision, which interim managers provide to accelerate the move from pilot projects to large-scale production.

Enablers and translators

They help the company bridge the gap between technological ambition and practical execution, translating business objectives into automated or assisted workflows.

Breaking project deadlock

Many organisations get stuck at the proof-of-concept or pilot stage because of poor data or rising costs. The interim manager steps in to reorganise governance and data quality.

Balancing AI and human judgement

They design processes so that AI handles repetitive tasks or draft generation, while the team retains decision-making responsibility and critical oversight (human-in-the-loop).

  4. 04

    Operational implementation

Our partners

We work with a select number of strategic partners, chosen to complement our expertise and offer clients integrated solutions.

Supply Chain & S&OP

Algo

What they do
Algo is an AI-powered supply chain planning platform. The software centralises siloed company data to generate accurate demand forecasts, optimise inventory levels and support commercial and pricing decisions in real time. Thanks to Generative BI, it lets companies talk to their business data in natural language to anticipate market trends.
Why we work together
We work with Algo to eliminate operational inefficiencies and maximise profitability. Integrating this technology allows us to drastically reduce excess stock and the lost revenue caused by stock-outs, aligning our clients' operations precisely with real market demand. The platform's speed of implementation also delivers a concrete, measurable financial return in a very short time.

Frequently asked questions

Interim Management, Temporary Management and Artificial Intelligence

What is the difference between Interim Management and Temporary Management?

The two terms are often used interchangeably. By Interim Management we mean placing a manager who temporarily takes on an executive role with full responsibility, for example as COO, to lead a transition or a critical phase. By Temporary Management we mean bringing in managerial expertise for a defined period, including part-time, to deliver specific projects or strengthen the existing organisation.

When does it make sense to bring in an Interim Manager?

Whenever the company needs senior expertise immediately and for a defined period: the sudden departure of a key manager, restructurings and turnarounds, M&A deals and pre- and post-acquisition integrations, generational handovers, new plant start-ups, or digital transformation and AI adoption projects.

How long does an engagement typically last?

Duration depends on the objectives and is agreed at the outset together with KPIs and milestones. It typically ranges from a few months to 12–18 months, with the option of adjusting the commitment, for instance moving to part-time support during the consolidation phase.

How quickly can the manager be up and running?

Speed is one of the main advantages of Interim Management. After an initial conversation we jointly define the profile, objectives and scope of the engagement; the start date is then agreed according to the urgency of the situation.

How are results measured?

At the start we agree a set of measurable KPIs with the owners or the board, such as OEE, OTIF, working capital, lead time and EBITDA. Progress is tracked through regular reviews, so every decision stays anchored to data and results.

How do you use artificial intelligence in your engagements?

AI speeds up both diagnosis and execution. We use it to analyse operational data and pinpoint inefficiencies and bottlenecks faster, improve demand forecasting in IBP/S&OP processes, support predictive maintenance, automate repetitive tasks and deliver more timely reporting to management.

Does artificial intelligence replace the manager?

No. AI expands analytical capability and frees up time from low-value tasks, but decisions, accountability and people management remain with the manager and the company's leadership. It is a tool in service of managerial judgement, not a replacement for it.

We are an SME with limited digital skills: can we introduce AI?

Yes, through a gradual path. We start with a digital maturity assessment, identify a few high-impact, low-risk use cases, integrate them with existing systems such as ERP and MES, and support the team with dedicated training so the skills stay in-house.

How are confidentiality and company data protected, including when AI is used?

Every engagement is governed by confidentiality agreements. Data access is limited to what is necessary, and AI tools are selected and configured together with the client, in line with the GDPR and the client's internal policies, avoiding uploading sensitive information to unauthorised platforms.

What does the company keep once the engagement ends?

Stronger processes, digital and AI tools already in use, established KPIs and management routines, and a team that has gained new skills. The goal is to leave behind an organisation able to continue the improvement journey on its own.
